Simple Ways to Get Rid of Product Build-up and Give your Hair a Healthy Shine at Home

home remedy for product buildup on hair terri oThe environment can be brutal on your hair. So I have 3 super simple recipes you can make yourself. Chances are you already have the ingredients in your kitchen.

Here is how to get rid of product build up-

Mix ½ cup apple cider vinegar with ¼ cup lemon juice. Put in a spray bottle and spritz on your hair. Rinse immediately. IF YOU HAVE COLOR TREATED HAIR BE SURE TO CONSULT WITH YOUR COLORIST FIRST.

Now that you have removed the gunk let’s add some shine! After shampooing your hair, rinse with cooled tea.

Hair is made of protein and giving it a healthy dose of nutrients every couple of weeks is a good idea. It helps strengthen your hair and add tons of moisture. Here are two recipes to choose from:

  1. Smash a ripe avocado and add a tablespoon of coconut oil or olive oil. Work into wet hair and leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes. Be sure to mash it up really well otherwise the chunks will just fall on the ground and cause a mess.
  2. Or you can whip up an egg and apply it to your hair leaving on for 10 to 20 minutes. This one is a little messy but effective.

How to use Flitter Flakes to Foil Emboss Paper Projects

I am bringing you something from the British Isles today.

You’ve got to love craft products with fun names like Flitter, Phat Foam, and Scoochy Foam. These foil embossing products are made by a company in England called Indigo Blu. If you are a card maker, add flitter to your craft stash and you will add a new dimension to your card-making and scrapbooking in six super simple steps. What are you waiting for? Dive on in!

I hope you had as much fun as I did.

Step 1. Place your “quintessentially English” rubber stamp on a an acrylic backer.

Step 2. Apply Flitter Glue to the stamp using Indigoblu Phat Foam. You want to make sure not to over glue it.

Step 3. Kiss your scrapbook or greeting card stock paper  with the stamp. (In this case I used tissue paper because I have plans for it in a later project.)

Step 4. Add Flitter Flakes and tap them down gently with your finger.

Step 5. Use Indigoblu Scoochy Foam to lightly sand off the excess Flitter Flakes. A light touch does it! Watch your lovely image emerge.

Step 6. Brush the unused portion back into the jar. I used Lancashire Rose on one of Indigo Blu’s Clockwork Stamps for this project, but they have lots of original stamps and nearly a dozen colors of Flitter Flakes.

What will you try first? Making a card or a scrapbook page?

Make Your Own Erasable Laminated Bulletin Board

purple cows terri o crafts

Need an erasable memo board in your own style and decor? It is super simple to make this one yourself in just a few minutes.

You will need a laminator for this project. The one I used comes from www.PurpleCows.net
It’s a great machine and there are so many projects you can make with it. Totally worth the investment.

Supplies:
Laminator
12×12 laminator sheet
12 x12 scrapbook paper
Tags
Stickers or anything you want to add to it
Dry erase pen

Instructions:
1. Cut about ¼ inch off 2 sides of the scrapbook paper. You want your paper to fit inside the laminator sheet so the there is a border on all sides. This way your project will be sealed all the way around.
2. Embellish your paper. I used tags and stickers. Attach them with adhesive.
3. Place your embellished paper inside the laminator sheet and run it thru.
4. The idea is to use this on the go. If you want you can also make an 8×11 size and punch holes in it so it fits in your notebook.

Decorative Corkboards

This is a super simple way to create a memo board for a bedroom or family message station.

You can buy packages of 12×12 corkboards at Target or Wal-Mart. These boards can be painted and glued. I suggest doubling them up because they are very thin.

Supplies I used to decorate them:
Stencils
Trim
Peel and stick rhinestones
Stamps
Flowers

Bling Bling Pendant

Items to fill pendant

Tweezers

Diamond Glaze www.judikins.com

Instructions:

1.      Adhere your paper or photo to the inside of your pendant.

2.      Apply your trinkets by laying them our first until you decide just how you want it. If you like it take a picture of it so you can remember how to put it back together.

3.      Once you are happy with your design fill the pendant with the diamond glaze. Remove any bubbles with a straight pin or toothpick.

4.      Note: The glaze does react with some materials so if you don’t want it to change color, test first.

Terri’s Stuffed Strawberries

4th-strawberries

Deliciousness for your 4th!

8 oz. softened cream cheese

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

20 medium size strawberries

Pkg. of fresh blueberries

Mix together the cheese, sugar and vanilla and put into a pastry bag. If you don’t have a pastry bag just cut off the tip of a large zip lock bag.

Clean strawberries. Slice off the top to remove leaves and leave a flat surface. Turn the berry upside down then from the tip make two crisscross slices.

Open the strawberry and insert a blueberry. That helps prop it open so you can fill it with the cream cheese mixture.

Top with a blueberry and enjoy!
